MB 30 S

The MB 30 S is a 3-tonne class excavator with a variable-gauge undercarriage — 1,300 mm retracted for access, 1,500 mm extended for stability — powered by a Kubota D1105 producing 15.6 kW. Working figures: 2,260 mm digging depth, 4,230 mm digging radius, 3,950 mm digging height, 2,800 mm dumping height, 20 kN bucket and 12 kN arm breakout force, 0.06 m³ bucket, 250 mm tracks. Overall 3,930 x 1,500 x 2,550 mm at 3,000 kg operating weight. The retracting undercarriage is the reason to specify this machine over a fixed-gauge 3-tonner. It gets through a 1,400 mm side entry, then works at full width where it matters, which removes the usual choice between a machine that fits the site and a machine that is stable on it. For groundwork subcontractors on residential plots and urban infill, that is billable time rather than a spec-sheet detail.
